With decades of teaching and performance experience, including 12 years as a principal dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Belén Pereyra leads Rhythm & Heart with passion, artistry, and joy.
About Belén
Belén Pereyra began dancing at the age of six, using movement as a powerful outlet to explore emotions, identity, and self-expression. Raised in a Dominican-American family with limited resources, Belén’s passion and discipline fueled her journey—from local classes to graduating as valedictorian of the Boston Arts Academy.
She moved to New York City with little more than determination and sharpened her craft with relentless focus. After a year of dedicated preparation, she earned a place with the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
Belén performed with Ailey for 12 years, gracing the world’s most prestigious stages and sharing her artistry with millions. But it was during the stillness of the pandemic that she reconnected with the freedom and joy that first inspired her to dance. That return to her roots gave rise to Rhythm & Heart—a space for movement that nurtures the whole person.
